David Gideon began studying with Lee Strasberg at The Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute in New York in 1971 and continued to study with Mr. Strasberg until his death in 1982. Under Mr. Strasberg’s tutelage, Mr. Gideon began his teaching career at The Institute in New York in 1976 and later in 1978 was selected to teach for The New York University Undergraduate program in the Tisch School of Arts. He taught at NYU for a period of thirteen years while he continued to work at the Strasberg Institute.
In 1978, Mr. Strasberg appointed him as the Director of his New York Institute and later was appointed to the position of Producing Director of The Lee Strasberg Creative Center. During the last twenty-five years as a teacher, Mr. Gideon has continued to work as actor, director, and casting director. As an actor he has been seen on stage, film and TV, most notably in Dennis McIntyre’s Modigliani, Alan Alda’s Sweet Liberty, Kojak, and Hawaii 50.
In 1991 Mr. Gideon formed his own independent acting classes for professionals known as The Acting Class. In the fall of 1995 he was invited to join the teaching faculty at The Actors Studio M.F.A. program at the New School University. Currently, Mr. Gideon is on sabbatical from teaching and is currently producing an educational TV series "Pegasea: The Cruising Classroom." Mr. Gideon is a Member of the Actors Studio. |
